SUMMARY: When examining Latitude vs. Wind Speed, the realtionship (as observed) was weak. There appears to be no visible relationship as one travels away from the equator between latitude and wind speed. Wind is created when air moves from areas of high pressure toward areas where the air pressure is low. Four factors known to influence wind speed and direction are temperature, air pressure, centripetal acceleration and the Earth's rotation. Since wind speed is influenced by the likley interaction of mulitple factors we would expect a single factor of latitude to have a weak relationship. .
